The world is a great place, and we want it to stay that way. Even though we are a small brand, we want to make an impact and do our best to achive a more suistainable planet.
Do you want to know how we do it?
WE ONLY WORK WITH ORGANIC COTTON & RECYCLED MATERIALS
Organic cotton grows naturally on the earth, improving ground's quality and biodiversity. It doesn't use pesticides or fertilizers, and it's irrigated only with rainwater and not artificially.
Recycled polyester is obtained from transforming waste, such as plastic bottles, into polyester fiber. With this, we reduce plastic pollutiond and make it useful.
CERTIFIED BY TH BEST.
Our garments are certified by the best independent bodies and standards, wich shows that we respect the planet in every phase of the process.
NOT JUST RAW MATERIALS
We are told to look the "Made in..." on the labels of what we buy, but in DP we think that it's not where, but how.
We are totally against taking advantage of lax laws in developing countries to manufacture under pseudo-sweatshop conditions.
But we know that factories with good work conditions (yes, they exist) help a lot to these countries, especially in the textile sector, on which so many people depend.
That's why we are proud to say that some of our garments are made in Europe (Portugal & Germany), but others in Bangladesh, always following UE standars to ensure the safety of all workers and guaranteeing decent work conditions. All our suppliers work hand in hand with the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), which carries out regular inspections and has labeled them as a leadres in the fight for quality employment.
3- WASTE REDUCTION
PRE-ORDERS & LIMITED ORDERS
At Dissidens, we believe that its not only about producing in the best possible way, respecting the environment and all the people involved in the process. It's also important to reduce waste, one of the biggest problems in the textile industry. Every year, 45 Billion garments are produced and never sold. Therefore, our initial proposal was to produce only via a pre-order system, in which reservations were accepted for a limited time, and then produce exactly the units manufactured.
However, we soon realized that as we are still a small brand, that doesn't work for us (at this time), so now we are pivoting to a mixed system, where we have limited drops with pre-orders with discounts for our members, and limited units for the rest.
SEND US OUR PROPOSALS
At DP we are constantly trying to improve. Therefore, we want to hear any type of proposal to improve sustainability and our environment impact. If you have any idea, we will glad to read it on firstname.lastname@example.org
